Of Beak and Feather

We hold our loved ones close like a mother hen with so many little chicks. Each one is completely dear, and none will be forgotten. We feel every fluctuation in their feelings, their hearts, their vibrancy, their self-sense.
The chick is so much more than the beak and feather. And spiritually, people are much more than their bodies. They are sparks of God, those beating hearts. In human beings, God is embodied, manifested in flesh, to be witnessed and enjoyed by us.
We should never allow such a grand gift, such an exquisite sacrifice, to go unnoticed or unloved. We should never allow the being, soul, heart of those we love to escape our grasp. We should not fail to see their infinite sensitivity, their perfect love, their expression. Realizing the sacrifice that they have made even to be born here with us, we ought to treasure them beyond what these words can ever tell.
Through all the trouble a person could possibly experience, we never cut them off. No problem that could be encountered by another being, no difficulty, no apparent confusion, or unfortunate manifestation should dim our love.
Psychically, we never consider at any time that this being is less than at any other time. A chick with a broken leg is just as lovable. We always give it our full attention and love. Spiritually, we recognize our obligation, our unity, our love for all beings throughout eternity.
Don’t Look Back

Don’t live your lives in relation to old demons. Don’t think there’s a gremlin around every corner that’s about to do you in. You can’t always live your life in relationship to the things that WERE. It is time to live your lives in relationship to what truly IS. And that is your beloveds, your own reality as a child of God, and those things exclusively, entirely.
You are FREE now, free from all of that, and not in fact a refugee from a horrible life. Granted, life was traumatic, and it had you under its spell for some time. But the trauma is continuing only to the extent that you entertain it in your brain. So therefore, better not to relive the old memories of the terrible days. Just make your clean break and don’t look back.
In gymnastics they say the body follows the head. Don’t point your head in a direction where, if your body followed it you’d be back in the dumps. Don’t point your nose in that direction.
Love is Bambi in the Forest

Pitfalls of Selfish Desire

Spiritual longing runs very deep in each and every one of us. We all have a hollow leg. We all have a desire and a craving for fulfillment. But the usual man or woman has an unfortunate tendency to convert their spiritual desire into the desire for acquisition of things, people, or relationships.
So the trap is that due to wanting there’s a possibility of acquiring. Due to acquiring, there’s the possibility of being addictive and greedy. In becoming addictive and greedy, there’s a certainty of being an asshole. That’s how it works. And that doesn’t work.
Liberation Is an Inside Job

God can’t keep you from making the choices you’re making. God can’t intervene in those choices, because choice is an internal process. That’s why liberation is an inside job: it has to do with what the person chooses. No one can choose for them; even though anyone, if they’re smart enough, can say what are the consequences of this or that kind of choosing.
Self-Realization

The part that is not whole has to give up so that the part that is whole can be realized. It’s your own self that you end up realizing, as a matter of fact—the self that you’ve always been. It’s just that your self, which is completely dependent and psychic and connected with all beings, is the one that you’re rejecting during the first part of your life. You’re rejecting it. You’re saying it is not good. Then it turns out to have always been good, it turns out to be the only good part.
